CARLISLE RESIDENCE

This house, situated high on a hill in Leverett, Massachusetts is designed to feel both grand and intimate, with commanding views of the Berkshires to the west and terraced patio and garden to the south. The three-bedroom house with a separate guest suite on the ground floor is designed for an environmentally-friendly lifestyle while integrating Aging in Place considerations.  Entered at the lower level, a leisurely staircase ascends to a dramatic great room and sun space.  Peeled bark Eastern Hemlocks harvested from the site are used as structural columns, complementing the long vistas and clean lines of the spaces with a natural texture and feel.  The exterior features a durable Hardie Panel wall finish articulated by aluminum reglets and exposed fasteners.
